The Boston Bruins were in Chicago, Illinois to play the Blackhawks and out of the 6 games in the NHL last night, this one got the game of the night honours, on the very 1st 'game of the night' blog.
There's nothing better then to see 2 elite teams of the NHL battling it out!
Boston is: 16-10-7 ( 39 pts )
Chicago is: 22-8-3 ( 47 pts )

Tim Thomas & Antti Niemi were the starting netminders for this game. The Bruins kicked things off with the first goal of the game at just 9:22 into the game. David Krejci put home his 6th on the year on a power play goal. Blake Wheeler, Derek Morris got the assists. A pretty exciting 1st period, the shots were 13-11 in favour of the Bruins. Beggining the 2nd period, Chicago came out firing! Just 1:55 into the 2nd frame, an awful, awful turnover by Andrew Ference right infront of the net allowed Kris Versteed to put home his 10th goal of the season. But that's not it, just over 5 minutes later, Brent Seabrook puts on a clinic skating by the whole Boston line-up before getting denied by the pad of Tim Thomas, but he gave away a huge rebound and Patrick Sharp found the back of the net for his 10th of the campaign. The 2nd period had 4 goals combined. The next one was from the Bruins Daniel Paille got just his 3rd of the season to tie it up 2-2. However, Blackhawks answered back, just 3 minutes later, with just 27 seconds left in the period, Jonathan Toews got his 10th of the season on a backhand shot and it was now 3-2, B-Hawks. This lead up to a very exciting 3rd period. Johnny Boychuck of the Bruins would tie the game just 6 minutes into the 3rd period for his 2nd of the year. It's now 3-3. But, like always, Chicago had a reply. Just a minute and 40 seconds after that, Brian Campell's shot from the point got re-directed by Andrew Ladd, and it is now 4-3 Chicago on Ladd's 5th of the season. With Chicago in the lead the fans had smiles on their faces, no. With just under 3 minutes left to go in the 3rd period, David Krejci scores!!! He got the 1st goal of the game, he'll get the last. Overtime solved nothing, so we head to a shootout! Bruins were up 1st..

Patrice Bergeron, stopped.
Jonathan Toews, scores!
Blake Wheeler, misses.
Patrick Kane a chance to win it, scores!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!

The Blackhawks win a thrilling game 5-4 in the shootout.
